How can you use the synchronisation feature?

The synchronisation feature can be used by every user who has access to a given course from at least two platforms. As the supermemo.net platform is the heart of the synchronisation process, it is essential that you have one or more online courses if you want to be able to use the feature. The option of synchronisation is launched from your iPhone or a CD/DVD course. Once the synchronisation has been performed, it transfers the information about the learning progress both ways, so there is no need to repeat it at supermemo.net.

How the synchronisation works in practice:

Example 1. If you are learning with a CD/DVD course, you can synchronise it with an online course at the supermemo.net platform following these steps:

• Step 1. Buy access to the analogous course at supermemo.net
• Step 2. On your computer launch the SuperMemo UX program with the CD/DVD course installed and then choose the Tools --> Synchronisation option from the menu bar
• Step 3. Click the Configuration button and log into your account at supermemo.net using the Synchronisation configuration window
• Step 4. When you have finished configuring your account, click Start. The data about your learning progress will begin to be transferred between platforms.

Example 2. If you are already learning with an online course at the supermemo.net platform, you can synchronise it with an iPhone course following these steps:

• Step 1. Buy access to the analogous course for the iPhone
• Step 2. When you have downloaded the course to your iPhone, log into your account at supermemo.net and your learning progress will be automatically transferred to your phone.

Next time when you want to synchronise your learning progress, just click the Synchronisation option in the course menu on your iPhone.

Why is the synchronisation of your learning progress worthwhile?
With synchronisation you can match your learning style to your lifestyle and make use of every free moment in a way that suits you best. Thanks to the synchronisation you can transfer your learning progress from one device to another, e.g. when you change your iPhone to a newer model. What is more, even if your phone is out of order or gets lost, you will still keep your learning progress.

How much does it cost?
The synchronisation of your data is free. However, if you want to use it, you need to purchase your courses on all the platforms between which you would like to synchronise them.

Do I have to synchronise my courses every day, or is once enough?
Every time you perform it, synchronisation updates your learning progress status. If you use several platforms simultaneously, it is advisable to perform it daily.

I have the “Extreme English Basic” CD course installed on my home computer. I would also like to study with it during breaks at work.
Use the possibilities provided by learning online and study at the supermemo.net webpage during breaks. Enter the "Extreme English Basic" course page on the supermemo.net platform and buy an additional course. After each learning session at home synchronise your progress status from the SuperMemo UX program (Tools --> Synchronisation) and the learning data at the supermemo.net webpage will be updated.

I have the “Polski. Bez problemu!” course on the supermemo.net platform. I’ve also purchased the same course for the iPhone and I would like to synchronise my learning progress. What should I do?

Why does synchronisation involve only the text content and not the multimedia when I try to synchronise my course?

At present only the text content of a course is synchronised between platforms. Multimedia synchronisation is not supported.

I have one of the "Extreme English" courses on a CD-ROM. I can see that a new edition of courses from that series has been published. Will I still be able to synchronise my courses with the supermemo.net platform?
