Parents’ questions
Are the courses suitable for my child?
The multimedia course is designed for children aged 5-9. The interactive scenes, which present the new words, are child-friendly and entertaining. New words and phrases are then repeated using the SuperMemo method. Thanks to this, the child learns effectively and motivation is guaranteed.
Can a 2– or 3-year old start learning with the course?
The exercises do not require any reading or writing skills so even very young children can start learning! The sooner the child makes friends with Memo and gets some exposure to English, the easier it is for him or her it to master new words and expressions when he or she is older.
Can a 5-year-old use the course without adult supervision?
The course has been designed so that children can work on it individually without any adult help. Memo the Dragon gives hints to the child suggesting where to click to complete the task. Memo communicates with the child while he or she is learning, encourages and praises correct answers.
I have two children. Can they both use one course?
Yes, you can introduce any number of users in both courses. A separate individual learning path is designed for each child, since the algorithm schedules individual repetitions.
What is the SuperMemo method?
The SuperMemo method is a method renowned in Poland and all over the world. Its unique feature is its scientifically-proven repetition algorithm based on research into long-term memory. The SuperMemo method provides the learner with an optimum plan of repetition while studying and makes learning faster and more efficient.
Can I monitor my child’s progress?
At the beginning of each lesson Memo invites the child to revise the words and phrases that were learnt the previous time. The scale in the main window shows the number of exercises completed and those requiring revision. Memo grows in size with each correct answer, reflecting the increase
in the child’s knowledge. The scenes that have been covered with complete success are marked with a green “tick.”
How often should the child learn?
All English courses using the SuperMemo method are designed to teach the language in an optimal way – with relatively small amounts of material presented frequently. This way of learning is the most effective, allowing the learner to memorise a high volume of material without needless effort and thus it is ideal for children as it does not overtire them. It is therefore important to encourage the young learner to use the course as often as possible, and learn in a series of small steps. In this way the child is not overburdened.
How long does it take for a child to cover the whole course?
It depends on the frequency of learning. Our multimedia courses are designed so that individual exercises can still be revised with the SuperMemo method even after the whole course has been completed. Additionally, children will enjoy the interactive, user-friendly games for a long time to come. If a two-year-old starts learning with Memo, the course will then accompany that child for several years.
How can I motivate my child to learn English?
It is important to praise even the smallest amount of progress that the child makes and show an interest in what he or she has learnt. The multimedia courses with Memo the Dragon help parents to monitor their child’s learning process and control the scope of the material that is presented. Memo motivates the child to play with the course and learn. All of the characters and objects in the course are accompanied by funny animations, which additionally encourages the child to learn and have fun.
